For the images-against-wall project I have chosen two pictures I took on a visit in Istanbul in 2007. I have taken them along the old city wall, which was built by the east-roman Emperor Theodosius II in 412 BC to protect the city, then called Constantinople. It stood and served the city more than a thousand years until Mehmed the Conqueror took the city in 1453 BC. Although more or less falling apart many parts of the walls survived and are still standing today. |
